“A Salute to Manitoba,” a gala dinner celebrating Manitoba 150 award recipients and nominees of Asian origin, was held on Sept. 11 at RBC Convention Centre.
Many Asian organizations, as well as leaders from the Black community, joined in the celebration to express their solidarity and recognize the contributions of Manitoba 150 Women Trailblazers and Honour 150 recipients and nominees.
The Manitoba 150 recipients were announced earlier this year. Among those recognized as Manitoba 150 Women Trailblazers were Rita Chahal, Pamela Rebello and Shahina Siddiqui. Honour 150 recipients included Evan Chan, Fred Devilla, Diane Dwarka, Vivienne Ho, Amita Khandpur, Junel Malapad, Evangeline Mance, Sheilah Lee Restall, Divya Sharma, Suman Sharma, Sushil Sharma, Sharan Tappia, Amy Tung, Hong Wang, and Amarjeet Warraich. The RBC Convention Centre created an atmosphere of Old-World charm, with gas lights and foliage at the entrance that led to lavender lighting resembling the autumn skies of a prairie town.
